A doctor from the UK set a goal to live to 150 years

Доктор из Великобритании поставил перед собой цель дожить до 150 лет

If you missed the news of British scientists - rejoice. Meet Dr. Alex Zhavoronkov, about whom we once told you, who works as the head of a British research institute dealing with issues of bioherontology, or, to put it simply, studying the life expectancy of people. Alex claims that in the course of the experiment, which he sets over himself, he will be able to live at least 150 years using modern medical advances and a wide range of medicines.

Of course, in order for the experiment to take place, the doctor will have to lead a certain way of life, increasing his chances of survival. Alex wants so much to get the status of "the most important long-liver of the planet", that he even decided to give up family life, as he considers her an additional risk factor. He will take about 100 different medications every day, exercise regularly, as well as constantly monitor his main vital signs, do blood tests and check the state of his body cells.

Alex Zhavoronkov is now 37 years old, and he believes that even those people who are already over 70, but who are in good physical shape, can live to 150 years with the help of modern medicine. Previously, this would have been impossible, but science does not stand still, and today human life, regardless of genetics, can be extended by several decades.

“I believe that in 2-3 years drugs will go on sale that can significantly prolong the lives of people. With their help, many of us will be able to reach the point when more advanced gene therapy will be available to extend the life of a person, ”the scientist states.

According to specialists from the Office of National Statistics, girls born in 2015 should live on average 82.2 years, and boys 78.8 years. Many scientists agree with Alex that modern medicine does significantly increase the time allotted to us. Of course, it should be remembered that at the same time it is necessary to adhere to simple rules: to be in the open air more often, to reduce the consumption of sugar, salt and fatty foods, if possible to play sports.

Alex Zhavoronkov even made up ten basic rules for those researchers who, just like him, want to live to be 150 years old. Here they are:

  1. Avoid psychological aging. Set an important goal before you, even if it seems difficult to achieve. Personally, I aim if possible to live up to 170 years.
  2. Allocate the maximum amount of time for yourself and your research. Abandon the reproduction process to avoid any liability associated with the birth of children. Your priority is to maintain your health and the predominance of science over material attachments. Constantly invest funds and forces in self-education and training of people around you.
  3. Surround yourself with young members of the scientific community. Communicate with young scientists, young researchers and doctors. Statistics show that research workers live and keep their sobriety much longer than other people.
  4. Actively participate in aging research. Fully support scientific programs related to biogerontology. You will be able to receive any new information first-hand, including access to advanced medicines that prolong a person’s life. Some of these drugs are already available to us today.
  5. Keep your body fit. Sleep for 7 hours (unfortunately, I can not always afford the luxury), watch the number of calories consumed, do yoga and strength exercises. Make sure your body mass index (BMI) is between marks 20 and 25. Avoid various inflammations and try not to get sick.
  6. Always keep in mind your predispositions. Conduct basic genetic studies of your body to predict the possible effects of drugs on your body.
  7. Monitor your health. Constantly do a biochemical blood test, examine cells, measure the pulse rate and other important vital signs.
  8. Start taking geroprotectors. Choose individual drugs for yourself, but only after you have completed a full physiological examination.
  9. Store samples for later examination. Be sure to save samples of your tissues, blood, and so on. They can be useful not only for you, but also for other researchers in this field.
  10. Make your life as interesting as possible so that in pursuit of longevity you have a worthy incentive. Ideally, you first need a research interest that will constantly push you forward. Read science fiction, watch movies, play video games - your life should never be boring.
