Arab sheikhs are planning their own space mission to Mars

Арабские шейхи планируют собственную космическую миссию на Марс

It is not a secret for anyone that the government of the United Arab Emirates has huge monetary reserves, which they sometimes spend on completely useless, if not to say “kitsch,” projects. Therefore, the news that the UAE Space Agency is planning its own mission to Mars, has caused considerable surprise among the world community. After all, before this, Mars was the case only for scientists from Russia, Europe, the USA and India.

The space probe with the romantic name Hope ("Hope" - Eng.) Will be launched by the Arab space agency to Mars in July 2020. This space mission will have to ensure the honorable position of the Gulf States in the international planetary scientific community, as well as in the global space technology sector.

The Hope probe will weigh 1,500 kilograms, and its goal will be to spend 4 years of its life in the orbit of the Red Planet. During this time, the device will explore the Martian atmosphere in the hope of finding answers to questions that have tormented scientists for more than one year. For example, shed light on the long-term disappearance of water from the surface of Mars through photodissociation. In addition, during the mission, the movements of clouds and dust storms, as well as changes in the atmospheric layers will be investigated. For the first time, scientists will be able to investigate the influence of the atmosphere of Mars on its topography.

"This is not some kind of demonstration of the technological power of the UAE, but a sincere desire to contribute to the research and understanding of Mars," said Bruce Yakoski, an employee of NASA MAVEN, who studies the atmosphere of the Red Planet.

During the mission, the Hope probe must send more than 1000 gigabytes of valuable information to Earth, which will be carefully analyzed by experts from the UAE Space Agency and then transferred to partners in the United States. Well, we will closely monitor developments and share with you the most relevant news about this mission.
