Since time is one of the strongest barriers to increasing physical activity, a new study can motivate people to run for health, according to an article published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Scientists at the University of Iowa (Iowa State University) analyzed data from 55,137 adults who were followed for 15 years. The study involved people aged 18 to 100 years. During the period of time covered by the study, 3,413 people died, of whom 1,217 were people from cardiovascular diseases.

Scientists took into account many other factors that could affect the result of the study - this is the general physical culture of the subjects, their gender, weight, bad habits and a family history of cardiovascular diseases.

As it turned out, joggers are 30 percent less at risk of premature death and 45 percent less from cardiovascular diseases. Although running was not considered the main cause of such an outcome, in all cases it was associated with an increase in life expectancy of three years.

It is not necessary to run for long and long distances. According to the researchers, a 5-10 minute jog (at a speed of about 9 km / h) has the same effect on health in terms of cardiovascular risks.

Researchers note that the matter is in a very intensive physical exercise. The best exercise is running. It gives more than moderate exercise, such as walking.

For those who do not like to run, scientists suggest choosing a jump rope or a bicycle. In any case, vigorous activity should last at least 5 minutes.
