All people are divided into "larks" and "owls." The larks wake up with the first rays of the sun and sincerely rejoice at their morning, while the owls do not sleep all night, and then they sleep off before dinner, and wake them up in the morning - like death. Large-scale scientific research, organized by a private American biotechnology company 23andMe, actually proved that there is a gene that makes a person more likely to wake up early in the morning. So if you like to sleep in the morning - this is not at all a whim, but a feature of your genetics.
The results of DNA studies, which were attended by over 89,000 people, in the journal Nature. During the project, scientists have identified 15 genetic markers that are directly related to the lark person or owl. Studies have also shown that women and the elderly over the age of 60 predominate among the larks. Such people rarely suffer from depression or insomnia, and they sleep no more than 8 hours a day. Owners of the lark gene are also thinner and fitter than owls, but the organizers of the study emphasize that if you wake up early in the morning, you are unlikely to lose weight from it.
The correlation revealed in the project is an excellent opportunity for 23andMe to carry out full-scale pharmaceutical research, during which, for example, you can try to create a drug that protects people from depression.
