Scientists have discovered Cthulhu

Dark matter nature may be associated with primary black holes.

Black-Hole

For physicists at the moment one of the most key questions is the definition of the components of which black holes consist. In a recent study, astrophysicists have made the assumption that not less mysterious dark matter can be one of the key components left from primary black holes. Scientists believe that further search and observation of black holes will ultimately make it possible to get to the truth.

It is widely believed among scientists that dark matter can only be detected through the gravitational effects it creates. It is believed that this dark matter is distributed over all galaxies and has such a huge mass that literally force some of the galaxies, located next to each other, to form huge clusters.

According to previous studies, dark matter accounts for about 85 percent of all matter in the universe, or a quarter of the mass-energy of the entire cosmos. However, so far no one has managed to determine what dark matter consists of. There are only assumptions.

Various theories suggest that dark matter may consist of wimps (hypothetical weakly interacting massive particles), or in some way connected with supermassive black holes. However, within the framework of one of the largest and most ambitious dark matter detection experiments, physicists have not managed to find any signs of these wimps. Therefore, they still remain only a hypothetical object. Supermassive black holes, one of which, for example, is located in the center of our Milky Way galaxy, have also been rejected by scientists as a potential source for creating dark matter. In one of the most recent scientific works, scientists spoke in favor of the fact that some of the very first black holes also can in no way be a source of dark matter. But only some.

In other words, physicists do not yet exclude the possibility that a certain type of primary black holes could be a kind of dark matter factory. The irony is that primary black holes, like dark matter itself, have never been seen by scientists. In theory, the primary black holes are very small black holes that appeared in the early stages of the formation of the universe.

“We have eliminated a number of primary black holes as a source for dark matter. But not all of them were excluded. Some types of black holes are still, in our view, potential candidates for this source, ”says astrophysicist Kim Grist of the University of California at San Diego.

The latest research team of scientists at the University of California at San Diego on this subject has been published in the scientific journal Physical Review Letters.

“Finding dark matter is an extremely difficult task, requiring millions of dollars and decades of research. However, not only the search itself, but also the experience that we accumulate in the framework of this search and which can later be used for completely different purposes, is pleasant and useful in this work, ”says Grist.

The astrophysicist also points out that one of the goals of future research space missions should be the task of detecting primary black holes. Among the potential candidates who will help to cope with this task, Grist names the NASA WISE project, as well as the Euclide space telescope developed by the European Space Agency.
